Fate's Fickle Embrace
poetrylovefateteenromance
A youth, who reveals his true feelings to his friend, is left to bear the sorrows of unrequited love, as fate intervenes and distance takes its toll on their friendship.
Beneath the surface, lies a hidden pain,
A love that once bloomed, now withered and slain,
Two friends, a bond so true and pure,
But fate, with cruel and fickle lure.
The youth, with noble heart and purest soul,
Did reveal his feelings to his friend,
Though rejection’s sting did take its toll,
Their friendship did not come to an end.
But distance, cruel mistress, did take hold,
And slowly did their friendship drift apart,
The youth felt loneliness, profound and cold,
His thoughts and feelings now held in his heart.
The memories of laughter and shared dreams,
Now nothing but a distant gleam,
He longed for the days of old,
When love’s embers were not yet cold.
To others, the youth was a shining star,
With accomplishments and accolades afar,
But hidden, turmoil did rage within,
He wished for a chance to turn back time,
To change the course of fate, and love to win.
But fate is fickle, and the youth was left,
To bear his sorrows, alone and bereft,
His heart aching, with love unrequited,
He’ll forever be, the love’s tormented.
