Valor's Curse

poetrylovefateteenromance

A youth, who reveals his true feelings to his friend, is left to bear the sorrows of unrequited love, as fate intervenes and distance takes its toll on their friendship.

Oh cursed fate, why doth thou torment me so?
Why must I lose all that I hold dear and know?
How many more must suffer at thy cruel hand?
How long until this nightmare doth end?

I try to love, to care, but all in vain,
For all that I hold dear is taken away.
My heart doth ache, my soul doth weep,
For all that I lose, my mind doth keep.

I cannot do one thing right, it seems,
For all my efforts lead to shattered dreams.
I hurt those I love, and it doth break my heart,
For I was not built for this kind of hurt.

I want to rage, to break, to kick,
But alas, my fate doth not permit.
I am tired, and my heart doth ache,
For this cursed life that I must take.

Perhaps it is better if I love no more,
If I care not for those on this earth.
For the more I care, the more it backfires,
And my heart doth break, my soul doth tire.

But alas, my heart doth not listen,
For the love within doth not glisten.
So I must bear this curse, this fate,
Until the end of time, my heart doth wait.
